June 2017 Update
Hi everyone. It's been a while since I did an update! I wanted to let you know of some new Unison, SA, SSA and SATBB pieces available through the website.
Unison and Piano:-
Balloons. With beautiful words by Dinny O'Brien, this piece is suitable for primary choirs, although the depth of the lyrics mean it's appropriate for older ages as well - ("Balloons are dreams with strings attached, filled with the air that children breathe..."). A two part treble version of this was premiered last year as a commission by the Australian Girls Choir.
Jasmine Flower is the well-known traditional Chinese song. This is a simple arrangement which has been used on international tours by the Australian Girls Choir.
Qua Câu Gió Bay (Wind on the Bridge) is a haunting Vietnamese song which was first performed on tour in 2004 in the beautiful Hanoi Opera House on tour with the Australian Girls Choir. We performed this with a student group from Hanoi.
SA and Piano: -
Balloons (see above in the unison comments). With beautiful words by Dinny O'Brien, this piece is suitable for primary choirs, although the depth of the lyrics mean it's appropriate for older ages as well - ("Balloons are dreams with strings attached, filled with the air that children breathe..."). This was premiered last year as a commission by the Australian Girls Choir.
Dreamwild, with lyrics by Dinny O'Brien, again shows the depth of O'Brien's writing about life. This song is available in SA and SSA and piano versions.
Funiculi Funicula is a fun arrangement of the well-known Neapolitan song, giving opportunities for the conductor and choristers to have fun with the audience!
SSA and Piano:-
Dreamwild, with lyrics by Dinny O'Brien, as mentioned above, again shows the depth of O'Brien's writing about life. This song is available in SA and SSA and piano versions.
SATBB and Piano:-
Brighton Grammar School's Jared Furtado commissioned me to write a piece with a "bayside" theme for their massed male choir in 2016 and this is now available through the
website. It's called Horizons and is available in SSA, SAB and SATBB versions.
I've also been busy with commissions from Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School and Carey Baptist Grammar School. These pieces will both be premiered later this year in November.
